There’s actually quite an interesting story behind today’s painting – it started when I suddenly found myself randomly worrying about something trivial a few weeks ago and I suddenly thought “Dammit, why does my mind always do this?“.
A few seconds later, I suddenly had a mental image of a brain as an evil creature of some kind trying to escape from someone’s head- and I knew that I absolutely had to paint this.
Originally this was just going to be an “ordinary” painting, but it looked slightly too bloody and horrific (even after I’d digitally removed all of the blood) to post on here. So, I decided to add quite a few digital effects to it (ok, I just converted the image to B&W, inverted the colours and then changed the RGB levels very significantly)
Not only did this have the effect of making my painting look like something from a zombie movie, it also made it look a bit like a heavy metal/punk album cover too 🙂
Seriously, this is probably the first time that overcautious self-censorship has actually improved one of my paintings.
