Today’s Art (23rd May 2018)

Woo hoo! I am very proud to present the second comic in “Damania Resurfaced” – a mini series of self-contained webcomic updates featuring the characters from my occasional webcomic series (many more comics featuring them can be found in the “2016”, “2017” and “2018” segments of this page).

Previous comics in this mini series can be found here: Comic One

And, yes, this comic update was initially inspired by a real TV show on a mainstream channel (Channel 4) here in the UK last year. Still, even though said TV show probably wouldn’t raise eyebrows in mainland Europe, it is at least reassuring to know that British television is still less censored than American TV (I mean, I once heard that an American news broadcast actually censored/blurred footage of an Amedeo Modigliani painting!)

This comic update was also originally going to be a much more political one about censorship, but I decided that character-based humour would be a lot funnier. And, yes, Harvey is a little on the prudish side, but “has some knowledge of obscene poetry”.

As usual, this comic update is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.

The Complete “Work In Progress” Line Art For My “Damania Regression” Webcomic Mini Series

Well, in the traditional fashion, I thought that I’d show off the “work in progress” line art that I scanned whilst making my recent “Damania Regression” webcomic mini series.

Unlike some of my mini series, there were hardly any dialogue/art changes between the line art and the finished comic (I think I replaced the word “that” with “the” in the second comic). However, since this mini series featured more digital art than usual, the line art for the final comic is missing two panels (since I added them digitally in the finished comic update).

You can click on each piece of line art to see a larger version of it.

The Complete “Damania Regression” – All Six Episodes Of The New Webcomic Mini Series By C. A. Brown

Well, in case you missed any of it, I thought that I’d collect all six “episodes” of my recent “Damania Regression” webcomic mini series into one easy-to-read post 🙂 You can also find links to lots of other comics (most of which feature the characters from this one) here.

Wow! When I started making this mini series, there was a heatwave and I’d also had about a month where I’d felt artistically uninspired. Still, I was determined that there would be comics posted here this month. And, despite taking a break from my usual comics (and making something else) last month, I wanted to return to making “Damania” comics again.

Even though I had to do all sorts of time/energy-saving things (eg: returning to my old 4-5 panel format, using digital tools a lot more extensively etc..), this mini series ended up being one of the funniest and most well-written ones that I’ve made in a while! And to think that I was initially worried that it would turn out like “Damania Relaxation” did!

As usual, all six comic updates are released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence. You can also click on each comic to see a larger version of it too.

Today’s Art ( 25th April 2018)

Here’s the sixth (and final) comic from my “Damania Regression” webcomic mini series. Don’t worry if you missed any of it, I’ll post a full retrospective here later tonight 🙂 In the meantime, you can check out lots of other comics here.

And, yes, the art in this comic update was somewhat rushed, because my computer insisted on running a mildly more modern version of Scandisk earlier (which took quite a while). Still, at least the entire annoying experience provided me with some nostalgic inspiration for this comic (and, yes, back when I used a Windows 98 PC I almost always skipped Scandisk).

As usual, this comic update is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.

Today’s Art (24th April 2018)

I am very proud to present the fifth comic in “Damania Regression” – a new webcomic mini series of mine (featuring the characters from many of these comics, after their absence from last month’s comics).
This mini series will consist of self-contained comics and I’ll be returning to the old 4/5-panel format for this one (mostly for time, enthusiasm and/or inspiration reasons). Previous comics in this mini series can be found here: Comic One, Comic Two, Comic Three, Comic Four

For any of my readers outside of the UK, this comic is kind of a slight parody of an amazing old gameshow from the 1990s called “The Crystal Maze” which got a modern remake last year too (the modern remake is actually really good and it’s as fun to watch as the original was when I was a kid – but the new “futuristic zone” set looks too shiny, unlike it’s slightly cyberpunk 1990s counterpart).
I’d thought of making a direct parody of the show, but I decided to go for an indirect parody in order to give the comic more of a “1990s comedy sketch show” atmosphere (since, until 2014, British copyright law didn’t actually provide protection for direct parodies).
And, yes, Rox’s line about only playing “point and click” games for the story is kind of similar to my own approach to this genre of games. I love them, but I’m terrible at the puzzles!

As usual, this comic update is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.

Today’s Art (23rd April 2018)

I am very proud to present the fourth comic in “Damania Regression” – a new webcomic mini series of mine (featuring the characters from many of these comics, after their absence from last month’s comics).
This mini series will consist of self-contained comics and I’ll be returning to the old 4/5-panel format for this one (mostly for time, enthusiasm and/or inspiration reasons). Previous comics in this mini series can be found here: Comic One, Comic Two, Comic Three

And, yes, there is technically a massive continuity error in today’s comic (originally, when Harvey first appeared in 2012, I imagined him as an avid fan fiction writer, but I never actually mentioned it in any of the comics [it’s briefly mentioned somewhere on DeviantART, but that’s it]), but this comic idea seemed too funny not to use. Not to mention that it’s been ages since Harvey last got to investigate anything too.

As usual, this comic update is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.

Today’s Art (22nd April 2018)

I am very proud to present the third comic in “Damania Regression” – a new webcomic mini series of mine (featuring the characters from many of these comics, after their absence from last month’s comics).
This mini series will consist of self-contained comics and I’ll be returning to the old 4/5-panel format for this one (mostly for time, enthusiasm and/or inspiration reasons). Previous comics in this mini series can be found here: Comic One, Comic Two

I’m surprised it took me this long to make this comic! A week or two earlier, when I was looking for Youtube videos about old mobile phones, I happened to find a video (filmed in either Germany or possibly Austria) of some guy “testing” whether an old Nokia phone was really indestructible, using various flammable things.

I’ve used a bit of artistic licence for the video in the comic (and an online translation for the German text, so apologies for any grammatical errors), but I realised that it’s been a while since I last made a “reaction” comic. And, if you’re new to the series – Derek is kind of evil, Roz is a pyromaniac ( but a discerning one), Harvey is a stickler for rules and regulations (and also loves reporting things internationally) and Rox just loves old technology.

As usual, this comic update is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.
