Well, as usual, I thought that I’d show off the “work in progress” line art from my “Damania Repressed” webcomic mini series that finished recently.
If I remember rightly, this mini series contains significantly more art and dialogue changes between the line art and the finished comics than the previous two mini series (here and here) do. So, this is also kind of a “deleted scenes” post of sorts too.
The largest changes include an alteration in the dialogue in the first panel of “Old Man” because I suddenly realised that the witty line I’d used was actually quoted verbatim from one of my old GCSE history teachers when I was at school. Since I was worried about plagiarism, I replaced it in the finished comic.
Another gigantic change appears in “Telegram”, which was originally going to have a completely different (but unfinished) ending, which I replaced completely in the finished comic because I thought that it was perhaps too cynical and/or slightly out of character. The ending of the entire mini series also follows on from the altered ending of “Telegram”, so the line art is non-canonical.
Likewise, the line art for “Highwayman” is missing it’s funniest line of dialogue, since I thought of it after I’d made the line art (and had to add it to the finished comic digitally).
As usual, you can click on each piece of line art to see a larger version of it. Enjoy 🙂
