Today’s Art (3rd March 2019)

Well, I thought I’d so something a little different with today’s digitally-edited painting. In other words, since I had a little bit more time, today’s painting is based on a dream I had two nights earlier (where I was trying to photograph some caves and a mysterious city during a beautiful sunset, but had very little time to do it).

This is the closest thing (except for making comics) to painting from imagination that I’ve done during the past couple of months and it was kind of fun to do. Although, for time reasons, I’ll probably stick to making “realistic” photo-based paintings reasonably often in the near future [Edit: Expect “ordinary” paintings to return more regularly from mid-June onwards].

As usual, this painting is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.

Today’s Art (26th April 2017)

Well, today’s digitally-edited painting is based on a dream I had the night before I painted it.

Amongst other things, the dream involved walking around a surreal version of Waterlooville, that was filled with random 1960s-style Brutalist architecture. It was also raining too. It was awesome 🙂

Today’s Art (29th July 2016)

As I mentioned in yesterday’s art post, I had an interesting dream that contained a lot of fascinating locations and I’ve tried to turn a couple of them into paintings, albeit slightly rushed ones. I’m not sure if they’ll be a third painting in this series or whether I’ll paint something else for tomorrow.

Today’s Art (28th July 2016)

Well, today’s (fairly heavily) digitally-edited painting is the first of a very short series of paintings (it will be at least two paintings long, possibly three) that are based on interesting locations in a dream that I had the night before I made these paintings.

Unfortunately, this painting didn’t really turn out as well as I’d hoped though and it looks a lot less interesting than the actual dream did. I was in a slight rush when I made this painting and I left out a few details from the dream for the sake of time (eg: such as the crowd of people who should have been on the bridge)

Today’s Art (31st January 2016)

Today’s painting is a bit of a strange one, since it was based on a dream that I had the night before I painted it. In the dream, I was looking through a window at a desolate, eerie, fog-covered “Silent Hill“-esque version of the school that I went to when I was a teenager. Anyway, since it was such a striking image, I thought that I’d try to paint it.

This is also the first time that I’ve really tried to paint fog before and, in the end, I cheated slightly and ended up using slightly more digital editing and effects than I’d normally use after scanning one of my paintings. Even so, I was able to learn the basics of painting/drawing fog.

Today’s Art (21st November 2015)

Today’s painting is vaguely based on part of a really cool dream that I had a couple of nights before I made this painting. I used a lot of artistic licence in this painting though, since the original background for this part of the dream was.. well, kind of boring in the actual dream. Emotionally, it was a really cool dream – but the setting of it was quite mundane.

As usual, this painting is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.
