Today’s Art ( 7th September 2015)

Well, today’s drawing is based on a photo of part of Gunwharf Quays that my parents took when they visited Portsmouth. Initially, I thought that this drawing would be too difficult to make, but I thought that I’d attempt it nonetheless. Even though I simplified it quite a bit and used a fair amount of artistic licence, it turned out reasonably well.

As usual, this painting is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.

Today’s Art (26th May 2015)

Today’s painting is based on a car journey I went on a couple of months ago. Basically, when going past the South Downs (near Portsmouth) at night, I saw this beautiful view which I just had to memorise in order to paint later.

Today’s Art (14th April 2015)

Well, today’s drawing is based on a photo of an old shipyard (?) near HMS Warrior in Portsmouth that my parents took when they went there a couple of months ago. Since I was in a slightly gloomy mood when I was drawing it, I decided to use a bit of artistic licence and make the drawing a bit more gothic than the original photo was.

Well, I decided to make another attempt at painting the view from Portsdown Hill (in Portsmouth) at night from memory.

Although, despite a bit of artistic licence and a lot of digital editing, this painting really doesn’t do this spectacular view justice.

As usual, this painting is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.

Well, today’s painting was painted from memory and it’s based on a road leading to Portsdown Hill in Portsmouth – the view from this hill at night is absolutely spectacular, since you can see pretty much the entire city (and it reminds me a bit of the opening scene from “Blade Runner”).

All in all, I quite like how this painting turned out, although the reflections from the streetlights don’t look quite right.

Well, today’s painting is another landscape based on my memories of a certain part of my life. Unfortunately, this painting really didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped and – as well as looking slightly generic – I also probably got quite a few details wrong too.

As usual, this painting is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.
