Today’s Art (18th July 2017)

Unfortunately, because I had to replace my computer’s worn out PATA DVD drive with a SATA-based DVD drive (and navigate the bizarre maze of wiring inside my computer) before I made this painting, I had less time than usual.

So, although I’d planned to make a cyberpunk painting, this digitally-edited painting ended up being more “minimalist gothic sci-fi” than cyberpunk.

As usual, this painting is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.

Well, although today’s digitally-edited painting is another cyberpunk painting – it ended up being considerably more gothic/ horror-themed and somewhat less detailed, due to a combination of feeling uninspired and not being in a great mood when I made it.

Well, here’s the next digitally-edited painting in my random series of cyberpunk paintings. Initially, I was worried that this painting was going to be less detailed than the previous two (here and here) since I had to make it slightly faster. Although it probably is mildly less detailed, I really like how the lighting turned out though 🙂

Yes, I’m still in the mood for making cyberpunk art 🙂 And, although this digitally-edited painting required a lot more editing than I had originally expected, I quite like how it turned out.

The trickiest part of this picture was probably drawing and painting the vaguely “Blade Runner”-inspired transparent jacket that the character by the window is wearing. Although I tried to do most of this using traditional techniques, I eventually had to resort to more than a few digital alterations. Still, I think that I got the basic principles vaguely close to correct. Unfortunately, the glass in the window in the foreground doesn’t really stand out that much though.

Well, today’s digitally-edited cyberpunk painting actually exists in three different versions.

This is quite fitting, because I’d originally planned to make a fan art painting of Rachel from “Blade Runner” (a film with at least five versions) but quickly decided to make an original painting instead – however, this ended up lending the painting more of a “film noir” atmosphere than some of my other recent cyberpunk paintings. This painting also ended up being a lot more detailed than I had expected.

At one point during the editing process, I strongly considered converting this picture into a sepia image in order to make the line art stand out more. However, although I made a sepia copy (albeit with varying levels of brightness between the foreground and background), I eventually decided that it lacked the visual variety of the original and replaced it with the original again shortly after completing this post.

As usual, this painting (and the alternative sepia and line art versions ) are released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.

Well, today’s digitally-edited cyberpunk painting ended up being a lot more detailed than I had originally expected, mostly since I happened to be watching “Ghost In The Shell[NSFW] (the “2.0” director’s cut of it, to be specific) whilst making the line art for it and wanted to try to make something even vaguely close to the hyper-detailed art in that film.

But, surprisingly, the final painting ended up having more of a 1980s-style look than I’d originally intended.

Well, I’m still in a cyberpunk mood (when aren’t I?) but, today’s digitally-edited painting was kind of a strange one. Originally, I’d planned to paint a cyberpunk music festival but, soon after I started sketching, it turned into a picture of a small market instead.

Because I messed up the perspective slightly, I ended up setting this picture in the middle of a large staircase of some kind which – surprisingly- actually added some extra atmosphere ot the painting 🙂

As usual, this painting is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.
