This digitally-edited painting was a bit of a weird one. If I remember rightly, I’d just watched the historical thriller/drama/horror film “Fanny Lye Deliver’d” (2019) and wanted to paint a scary-looking puritan. However, this seemed sort of boring (who would have guessed?), so I ended up adding a surreal psychedelic background for the sake of dramatic contrast.
